This year I wanted to decorate for Valentine's Day and what better way than to make some easy, cute, and affordable crafts of my own. What's even better is that I was able to get my daughter on board for 2 of these crafts and we both had a great time doing them. Down below, I will list everything you need to make these crafts as well as give you step by step instructions with pictures included. Happy crafting!
Love Monsters
These little guys were so fun and incredibly easy to make. To make this craft you will need:
Yarn - any brand will do
Scissors
9 oz plastic cup
Glue gun
Toilet paper roll
Pipe cleaners
Googly eyes - different sizes
Pom poms - different sizes
B)eads
Step 1: Wrap some yarn around the empty toilet paper roll (length wise), 200 times and cut the end.
Step 2: With another small piece of yarn, tie a knot around one side of the yarn making sure you don't tie around the roll.
Step 3: Turn the paper roll around and cut the yarn all the way across on opposite side of the Knot. Do not cut the paper roll so you can reuse it again.
You should be left with something like this!
Step 4: Now get your plastic cup and turn it upside down. Put some glue on the bottom of the cup and apply the middle of the yarn right on top of it. Once glued down you can arrange the yarn to cover the cup. Now you've got your little monsters body!
Step 5: Now for the real fun part. Time to decorate your little monster! You can apply eyes, use pipe cleaners as antennas/mouth, use pom-poms for nose or to decorate antennas. This is where you can get as creative as you want. Here's what we ended up with.
Cute right?!? There's really no limit to how creative you can get and they were so easy to make. Plus a HUGE hit with my 8 year old. I made the red one but the other 3 were all her with the exception of getting some help with the glue gun. Once complete, these little monsters are about 4 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide.
Valentine Lovers
This little craft is so easy and cute and I had lots of fun doing it. The reason why I chose to only put a smile and heart on them? Lovers always have a big smile and a heart full of love when together and thats what I wanted to stand out.
To make this craft you will need:
Two 3 Inch wooden people. I found mine at Michael's
Red, white, and pink acrylic paint
Pencil
Paint brushes - preferably make sure you at least have one fine tip paint brush
Fine tip black marker - for one of the smiles
Step 1: Paint the body of your little wooden people. I went with white and pink and let them dry for at least an hour.
Step 2: Use a pencil to draw on their smile. For the pink I used a fine point brush and used red paint to go over the pencil smile. For the white doll I didn't have black so just used a black fine point tip marker.
Step 3: I used my pencil again to draw on their hearts
Step 4: I outlined, then filled in their hearts with red paint. This is where a fine point tip brush comes in handy.
And this is the end result! They are so easy and simple but my absolute favorite. They look perfect on my little dinning room table Valentine's Day tray. I like to think this is hubby and I...I know, cheesy lol. Hope you guys like them as much as I do.
Heart Wooden Block
Here's another easy and fun craft my daughter and I were able to do together.
For this craft you will need:
Step 1: Grab your stain brush and wood stain and stain the 3 inch block. This was a fast dry stain so it was dry in an hour.
Step 2: While you let your block dry, paint your wood shaped hearts. We went with red, pink and a white heart.
Step 3: Once your hearts and wood block are all dry, grab your wood blue and place some on the back side of the heart and put them on the center of each side of your block. We also added one to the top.
Here's our final result! We also added this to our Dinning room table Valentine's Day tray. It was super easy, entertaining to make for both my daughter and I, and super affordable. Plus looks perfect next to our little Valentine Day Lovers.
Hope you guys enjoyed these super easy Valentine's Day crafts that anyone can do even if you are new to crafting. I wanted to share crafts that anyone could make as well as do alongside the little ones.
