We picked our first pumpkins of the season! Things are definitely different this year but that does not mean we can't enjoy all the Fall activities we've had in recent years. We were thrilled when we learned we could still enjoy Tanaka Farms this season and were able to make some special and fun Fall memories at Tanaka Farms with friends this year. Im excited to share with you 2 great options to stay safe and socially distant this season. You too can make some wonderful memories and have a fun and safe experience.
In order to enjoy any of the options, you have to pre-register. It's really easy and only takes a few minutes. I suggest you don't wait long because things are expected to sell out since only a certain amount of tickets are being sold each day to comply with social distancing. I'll be sharing the link down below.
U-Pick Pumpkin Option
This year we took a wagon ride along with some of ladies from The Mommy Blogger Tribe. Parking is free and check in was easy and hassle free. We simply entered the tents where they took our temperature, scanned the barcode on our confirmation email and were seated into our wagon. Please bring your own mask as all employees and visitors 3 years and older are required to wear a mask.
The tour was led by a wonderful tour guide that took us all around their beautiful 30 acre farm and gave us some background on the farm. Did you know that Tanaka Farms is one of the only farms in Orange County with a REAL pumpkin patch? Here are some of the things we got to enjoy during our tour:
We got to see their pumpkin decorations on the field
Saw the scarecrows throughout the field. They had really creative ones and some of our favorite characters like Trolls, Jack Skellington, and Elsa.
We watched them launch the pumpkin cannon
A ride through the barnyard educational exhibit with farm animals. This was such a treat for the kids and adults. Have you ever seen a cuter pig? Watch the video to hear everyones excitement.
We also learned all about other fruits and veggies they grow throughout the year. Definitely coming back for their Blackberries.
We all then exited the wagon to pick veggies like carrots, radishes and cilantro. Fresh veggies to take home...yes please. There was a line for picking to maintain social distance from people outside of your group.
After the veggie picking we were escorted to the pumpkin patch. We each got to pick a pumpkin from their beautiful pumpkin patch that's included in the admission ticket purchased. They had all shapes, sizes and colors. If you can carry it, it's yours. The patch is large so its very easy to maintain social distance from people outside of our group.
Of course we had to stop and take some pictures in this beautiful pumpkin patch. They even had scarecrows throughout the patch that made for some fun pictures too.
After narrowing it down to 3 pumpkins here are the ones we went with. Hubby picked the white one, I would have never been able to carry that one myself. Now to start deciding what to carve/decorate on these pumpkins.
